What Are Blueprints?
Mozilla.ai Blueprints are ready-to-use workflows to help developers (especially those new to AI) build AI applications.
They’re easy, they’re extendable, and they’re open-source!

We Want to Make Open-Source AI the Default Choice

Cure your AI overload
We interviewed dozens of developers who told us they are constantly inundated with AI tutorials and blueprints. With all that noise, it's hard to know which sources to trust.
Our Learnings
Interoperability out-of-the-box
Many builders say they wish they could use open-source tools and models, but these are often difficult to use or hard to integrate with each other. So they fall back on closed-source AI APIs.
Our Blueprints integrate open-source tools and models into workflows that are flexible, easy to customize, and actively maintained.

With Blueprints you can focus more on building, not troubleshooting.
Practical, Customisable, and Community-Driven AI Solutions
Each Blueprint is designed to solve a distinct problem, offering developers a practical foundation for common AI use-cases. They are built with the following 5 principles in mind:
Community-driven
Our community is constantly forking, improving and adding components to our blueprints, helping keep them up to date and relevant. We are also always working with partners and individuals on new Blueprints and will feature them on the Blueprint Hub.
Extendable for your use case
Blueprints provide you with a solid foundation to build on and customize to meet your specific need. Our GitHub repo gives you detailed guidance from installation all the way to extensions.
Ready to use
Every blueprint is extensively tested, regularly maintained, and works right out-of-the-box. We want to get you building in minutes, not spending hours troubleshooting.
Templatized
All Blueprints are developed from the Blueprint Template, which you can start from when you create your own Blueprint. We believe the consistency across Blueprints will make them easier to understand, use, and adapt, helping turn more developers to open-source AI solutions.
Open-source
Each Blueprint is hosted on our GitHub repository as open-source, and aims to leverage only open-source tools and models, ensuring accessibility and transparency.
Our Selection Criteria
We prioritize models and tools that are as open and transparent as possible

OSI’s definition of open-source AI
Blueprints adhere to the OSI’s definition of open-source AI, reflecting Mozilla.ai's commitment to these principles. However, if a tool or model doesn't fully meet OSI standards yet offers significant performance or usability benefits, we may still consider it to enhance the developer experience. Importantly, we never recommend paid tools, ensuring Blueprints remain fully accessible for developers.
